Trump gets a win on Voice of America’s leadership change

During the Cold War, VOA did its job reporting facts inside communist-led countries, but took a sharp turn left. After a long struggle, Trump put an un-biased CEO at the helm, Michael Pack. VOA’s parent, US Agency for Global Media, falls under the Executive Branch so it legitimately permits a president to appoint as seen fit. Our taxes fund it and we want American news given to the world in an objective way to support freedom and democracy.

so many years ago
00:03
we used to hear about a thing called
00:05
Voice of America which I guessed was
00:07
kind of the Western response to like
00:08
Tokyo Rose it was kind of counter
00:12
communist propaganda or you know by the
00:15
United States and I’m gonna guess that
00:17
that’s also been taken over by leftists
00:19
but I understand you have news about
00:21
that Brad could you tell us about it
00:23
yeah an interesting development in
00:25
something I would kind of classify in
00:28
the you know victory column now Voice of
00:30
America is not something that I’ve
00:32
really spent a lot of time talking about
00:34
and it’s a it’s the global media US
00:39
agency for global media is is the
00:41
umbrella group and Voice of America is
00:44
the radio broadcasting into the former
00:47
Soviet Union and like radio Marti into
00:50
Cuba and all these different things now
00:52
years ago this was taken over by the
00:54
left and so they mainly are like
00:58
critical that has been a lot of their
00:59
time being critical of the Republicans
01:01
versus just trying to report news into
01:03
these areas that’s you know that’s
01:05
actually of interest and truthful of all
01:07
those things it’s a very slanted left
01:09
wing and it’s just like what you see on
01:11
the mainstream media here in the United
01:13
States it’s all slanted to politically
01:16
match whatever it is they want versus
01:18
just like straight up reporting and let
01:20
your listeners and viewers decide for
01:21
themselves based on the facts that you
01:23
provide so what has happened and this is
01:26
a this is a pretty big deal The Voice of
01:30
America director Amanda Bennett and the
01:33
deputy director Sandra sugawara and
01:36
forgive me if I’m pronouncing that
01:37
incorrectly resigned now basically they
01:41
were forced out they were replaced by a
01:44
man named a PAC last name pack now PAC
01:47
is going to be much more dedicated to
01:51
actually providing an accurate reporting
01:53
versus political reporting so this is a
01:56
very very interesting development and
01:58
something that’s you know thirty years
02:01
overdue but this is a major victory in
02:03
something that has been done relatively
02:06
you know by stealth by the president
02:08
United States so this is
02:10
actually a pretty big victory for
02:11
President Trump that is going to remain
02:14
on Harold’s and I doubt anyone’s going
02:15
to see any reporting on this outside of
02:17
it what I’m doing right here but the
02:20
significance of it is fairly high and
02:22
it’s going to begin to change the tone
02:24
of what people are receiving in foreign
02:26
countries about the United States and be
02:28
far more accurate so you know this is
02:31
you know if I can make a kind of a loose
02:33
comparison this is like you know 100
02:37
News Network News max Fox News to some
02:39
degree versus CNN MSNBC and that you’re
02:43
seeing kind of that that change from the
02:45
far left to something but you know it’s
02:48
kind of a more fact-based and the the
02:54
way that the left propaganda wise is
02:57
treating it is they’re saying that this
03:00
is an attack on the First Amendment the
03:03
freedom of speech a very very
03:06
interesting spin I find out of this that
03:08
they’re tacked on that is to is to
03:11
attack is to say that they’re being
03:12
attacked for freedom of speech
03:14
well actually what they’re doing and
03:16
this is the tactic used by the left by
03:18
communist socialist liberals oh they’re
03:20
all the same thing and this is the tact
03:22
that they take always on these issues is
03:24
that oh you’re you’re by you stopping me
03:27
from saying my propaganda that’s an
03:28
attack on free speech but in fact what
03:31
they’re doing is they’re the ones
03:33
attacking free speech because they’re
03:35
only providing a small segment of what’s
03:38
out there the facts that are out there
03:40
they’re only presenting what what they
03:44
consider helpful to them politically
03:46
which you know there’s lies of
03:49
commission which means you tell
03:50
something factually incorrect they do
03:51
that as well but the vast majority of
03:54
what they do is a lie of omission they
03:57
only give you a little tiny piece of the
03:59
story only the little pieces that
04:01
support what they want to support and
04:03
the rest of all the facts and truths
04:05
that are out there they leave lay it on
04:07
the on the cutting room floor if you
04:08
will so this is a big step forward we’re
04:10
going to get all of that information
04:12
into there this is very significant on
04:14
the world stage and a huge victory for
04:16
President Trump so mr. president kudos
