Sturgis vs. ANTIFA | Motives and Intentions

Antifa knew it wouldn’t end well for them attempt protest at the Sturgis Bike Rally, so why did they do it? A major event for decades drawing bikers from all over, good behavior prevails, including from Hell’s Angela. Everyone wants to enjoy each other. Not exactly known to back down from disruptive outsiders, Antifa was quickly marched out of town by experienced police before the bikers jumped Is there more to this incident than that? Brad Johnson analyzes the possible deeper motives of Antifa. Join the former CIA Officer and Chief of Station as he picks it all apart.

brad johnson it is august the 17th to
00:03
2020 and just this weekend
00:05
there was a massive biker
00:08
meetup in sturgis uh
00:11
certainly an odd place for antifa
00:13
decided to go
00:14
protest i guess i don’t know if that’s
00:17
suicide or some kind of genius i don’t
00:19
get
00:20
what’s your make what’s your take on all
00:21
that
00:23
yes i again an interesting thing now
00:25
this wouldn’t normally be something i
00:26
would talk about this but there’s an
00:28
aspect to it that i find interesting
00:30
and just for everyone’s background
00:32
sturgis is probably the largest
00:34
motorcycle type you know centered event
00:37
that takes place in the united states
00:39
it’s an annual event it’s been taking
00:41
place for decades it’s a big deal
00:44
every motorcycle manufacturer of any
00:47
significance whatsoever
00:48
goes there harley-davidson is big there
00:51
also it’s a big event for all
00:55
motorcycle riders and of course i think
00:56
we all recognize at the heart of
00:58
motorcycles are also the gangs too now
01:01
sturgis there’s it’s a uh
01:03
considered uh a big deal in the
01:06
motorcycle world so it’s a peaceful
01:08
event for the most part
01:09
and all of the like gang type people
01:12
that go
01:13
the hell’s angels all of all of the
01:15
different motorcycle related gangs
01:17
go but out there they they
01:20
to keep the event going recognize they
01:23
can’t
01:23
take you know go to war there sort of
01:25
thing so
01:27
but they are all represented there now
01:28
the the interesting part that
01:31
that took place here was that antifa
01:33
decided that it was going to be a good
01:34
place to protest which as you say
01:36
is this some sort of hidden tricky
01:38
genius going on that we just simply
01:40
haven’t figured out or
01:41
or pure stupidity i lean towards the
01:43
second myself
01:44
but there’s an interesting aspect to it
01:46
they all show up and they have their you
01:47
know the
01:48
antifa masks on and they’re all dressed
01:50
up in these little outfits that they
01:52
wear
01:52
and of course by sturgis standards they
01:54
were very cute
01:56
and not dangerous looking at all
01:59
and they show up and then start pushing
02:01
up against some of the motorcycle guys
02:03
and uh and they start a shoving match of
02:05
course the police recognized that i
02:08
don’t know how many
02:08
antifa guys were there but it was you
02:10
know a dozen or 15 or something along
02:12
those lines it wasn’t
02:14
you know 200 people marching in or only
02:16
one or two guys it was a group of people
02:18
and so they start shoving match trying
02:20
to basically kick things off and and
02:22
make it turn ugly
02:24
the police of course at sturgis have
02:26
been doing this a long long time
02:28
like i said this has been around for
02:29
decades and they recognize immediately
02:32
what’s going to happen and so they
02:34
tackle the antifa guys
02:36
and as you say kind of started frog
02:37
marching out the guys that were pushing
02:39
immediately got just arrested by the
02:41
police and hauled off
02:42
because like i said the police recognize
02:44
what’s going to happen i mean these
02:45
aren’t the type of guys you screw around
02:47
with like that
02:48
and start shoving matches these guys
02:49
would just kill the antifa guys so
02:52
you know they would beat him to death
02:53
stomp on him and stuff so the police
02:55
actually
02:56
were doing the antifa people a favor and
02:58
save their lives to take them out
02:59
now the aspect of it and the reason i i
03:02
wanted to
03:02
to include this uh was because if
03:05
everyone recalls maybe
03:07
i don’t know six weeks ago or so we we
03:10
did kind of
03:10
actually kind of a little uh humorous
03:13
type interview
03:14
over that there were reports that antifa
03:18
said that it was going to wipe out
03:20
hell’s angels
03:22
because they’re a racist organization
03:24
which you know i was kind of
03:25
you know yucking it up at that whole
03:27
concept but now it makes me revisit that
03:31
and uh certainly hell’s angels and you
03:33
know
03:34
there are a lot of motorcycle gangs all
03:36
of them were there
03:38
and so i actually now look back at that
03:40
earlier report that i
03:42
completely discounted as being realistic
03:44
and now i’m re-examining that
03:46
thinking that you know antifa must have
03:49
actually decided to try and do some of
03:51
this i think they’re actually going to
03:53
try and
03:54
take on some of these groups like hell’s
03:56
angels
03:57
and i’ve got to say i i i find that
04:01
extraordinarily stupid on their part but
04:03
also interesting the fact that they
04:05
would think that that’s something that
04:06
they
04:07
that they should or could do and
04:10
uh if hells angels ever discovers that
04:13
antifa’s at war with them
04:14
you know it’s going to turn ugly quick
04:17
and
04:18
uh so i’m i i’m i’m very surprised by
04:21
this having taken place at a place like
04:23
sturgis because that’s
04:24
so famous i mean it’s the event of its
04:27
type
04:28
and and been around for decades so i i
04:31
now
04:32
am as i say kind of revisiting that
04:34
earlier report about antifa trying to
04:36
take on motorcycle gangs
04:38
and thinking well there must be some
04:40
truth to it as stupid and weird as it
04:42
sounds
04:43
they must think that this is something
04:44
that they’re going to be able to get
04:46
away with and
04:46
of course california has got great
04:48
weather uh
04:50
and antifa really is in many ways based
04:52
out in the pacific northwest and
04:54
certainly a lot of their money
04:56
backing a lot of their funding comes to
04:59
them via california where these
05:01
motorcycle gangs are also quite active
05:03
because of the good weather so
05:05
i’m i’m thinking there must be some sort
05:07
of conflict there
05:08
that’s that is causing this because
05:11
antifa wouldn’t take them on
05:13
just for the joy of it so there has to
05:16
be some deeper motive that we haven’t
05:18
come across before
05:19
and i would say you know i would be in
05:21
the high
05:22
certainty that this is based on some
05:24
sort of money conflict
05:26
that somehow uh motorcycle gangs are
05:29
cutting into what the
05:31
antifa views as their their their source
05:34
of money
05:35
so i would i would be i would anticipate
05:38
that over time as this comes out we’ll
05:40
learn more details about this and some
05:42
sort of
05:43
a pre-existing conflict over money or
05:46
maybe power
05:47
uh influence in certain areas is is
05:49
there in dispute between them
05:51
the one other factor i would remind
05:52
everyone of is that
05:55
antifa does have uh
05:58
numbers you know certainly i would say
06:01
probably in the in the hundreds
06:03
people who have gone over to fight in
06:05
syria with the different
06:07
groups and so on so they’re they do have
06:09
a cadre of people
06:11
that have actually seen combat time uh
06:14
over in these wars that are taking place
06:17
in in that area
06:18
and so these people will come back so
06:22
they’re going to view themselves
06:24
as having a very like elite core of
06:28
combat veterans now uh i i think
06:31
it’s worth pointing out i mean there’s a
06:33
huge difference
06:35
between being in combat behind the lines
06:38
and being part of essentially a militia
06:40
group fighting
06:41
and the street type fighting that takes
06:44
place say within the gang world
06:46
so uh if that is indeed the case and if
06:49
they have become
06:50
confident in their group and their
06:52
abilities to
06:53
actually confront violence of that level
06:56
uh i i think they’ll be sort you know
06:59
very
06:59
big surprise waiting for them put them
07:02
put it that way this is not an area
07:03
where you can line up
07:04
behind a berm with your assault rifles
07:07
and and try to charge or you know bring
07:09
in mortar and stuff like that that’s not
07:11
what this would be
07:12
and hell’s angels is very experienced
07:14
they’ve got they’ve also been around for
07:15
decades and all of these
07:17
other motorcycle gangs of which there
07:19
are many uh they’re they’re used to this
07:21
street fighter mentality
07:23
and and capability to do it and
07:24
certainly they have weapons to
07:27
to conduct those sorts of things as well
07:29
so
07:30
i think i think tifa antifa is
07:32
ill-prepared
07:33
in every way shape and form to actually
07:37
you know try to you know go to war i’ll
07:40
use that term loosely
07:42
to try to go to war with motorcycle
07:44
gangs i think they’re completely
07:45
ill-prepared
07:46
but it does strike me as the type of
07:48
kind of stupid arrogant thing that they
07:49
would come up with if
07:51
there’s an issue behind it somewhere
07:52
with the money deal going on so
07:54
like i said i think this sturgis thing
07:56
is just a little tiny pointy end of the
07:58
spear or better
07:59
better yet the the tip of the iceberg i
08:02
think that
08:03
antifa is gearing up to try and do
08:05
something in this area now we’ve had a
08:07
report which i discounted immediately
08:09
but now this actually took place
08:11
there was a confrontation the police
08:12
came in and broke it up but it means
08:14
that antifa is willing to do this
08:16
and uh yeah like i say i think it’s
08:20
foolish if
08:20
if any motorcycle gang ever figures out
08:23
that that
08:24
antifa is trying to attack them it’ll
08:26
it’ll basically end pretty quickly at
08:28
that point so
08:29
we’ll see how this unfolds see if it
08:31
continues
08:32
if there’s more and i think we’ll hear
08:34
data eventually some of the reporters
08:36
out in those areas will start to dig up
08:38
some background to this
08:39
and we’ll start to see some of the
08:41
aspects so
08:42
this is all like kind of like a little
08:43
tickle at this point but it looks like
08:45
it’s shaping up
08:46
to for antifa to get its rear end handed
08:49
to them by some motorcycle gang who’s
08:52
who who lives that type of violent
08:54
lifestyle and is perfectly happy to
08:56
to go kill a bunch of antifa guys so
08:58
we’ll see how
08:59
but as i said this is kind of the little
09:01
tickle feather warning that that
09:03
something like this seems to be shaping
09:04
up
09:06
you know i suspect if things keep going
09:08
as they are which
09:09
you know they they can’t forever but if
09:12
they keep going as they are
09:13
antifa might also find themselves up
09:16
against a lot of
09:17
recently retired police officers from
09:20
around the country
09:21
it might just feel the need to be parts
09:23
of a militia
09:25
opposing them since they weren’t able to
09:27
be effective as police officers
09:29
what do you think i
09:32
have an interesting point there as well
09:34
and i wouldn’t be surprised
09:36
if you see that actually excuse me
09:39
expand
09:40
and uh you’re not just retired policemen
09:43
but also there’s a lot of
09:45
patriots out there too that see what’s
09:47
happening and see this for what it is
09:48
which is a
09:49
communist uprising and i don’t like it
09:51
and
09:52
uh i think younger guys might be willing
09:54
to jump into the fray there as well and
09:57
form
09:58
you know we can call them militia groups
10:00
but form groups that are kind of
10:02
anti-communist and just don’t want to
10:04
see this sort of thing expand
10:06
and certainly don’t want to see it in
10:07
their neighborhoods and
10:09
that is what we’re seeing antifa and
10:11
black lives matter try to do and that’s
10:12
to expand this nationwide
10:14
and they’re still doing in portland
10:16
still out in seattle still in chicago
10:18
and there are now places where they’re
10:19
trying to do it otherwise which as
10:21
as we just discussed we’ve seen them try
10:23
to take it to the streets in sturgis as
10:25
well
10:26
which that just weird but
10:29
i think they’re certainly going to try
10:31
to do this in other areas and certainly
10:33
areas
10:34
like florida which is where i sit now
10:36
for this conference
10:38
because it’s a swing state and they want
10:40
to make sure that the elections
10:42
go to democrats and not not president
10:44
trump so
10:45
i think in those states like florida
10:47
that are important states that
10:49
is a must win uh certainly for for
10:51
president trump
10:52
i think we’ll see them try to bring the
10:54
unrest there and anyplace else they can
11:05
[Music]
11:12
so
