US Navy conducts exercises near Venezuela’s coast

Global powers pay little attention to Venezuela, but Iran is importing oil there. Not only has Venezuela’s communist government run their own production abilities into the ground, but Iran is over-stepping the law. Brad Johnson points out this failure is “typical” in communist countries who tend to appoint less-than-ideal cronies to run important functions. Venezuela seems to have no choice to import. Is our Navy making it known we are none to pleased to over Iran’s actions? But Maduro noticed our ships…

With 25 years in the CIA as a senior operative and chief of station, Brad brings his angle to his updates and analysis on important global and domestic issues. This in-depth reporting is seen little in mainstream media. After retiring, he formed Americans for Intelligence Reform to combat political agendas dictating our intelligence agencies as it has so much of our media.

00:02
and something that we haven’t talked
00:04
about for a long time
00:06
is venezuela and it’s something that
00:08
probably needs to be watched
00:10
because you don’t want uh toxins like
00:13
that to be leaking out all over the
00:14
place
00:15
what’s the latest on venezuela well kind
00:18
of some interesting
00:19
uh kind of developments in that in just
00:22
the last few days
00:24
now venezuela is still hardcore
00:26
socialist
00:27
uh the uh there’s been no changes
00:30
politically there
00:31
uh they’re still very active running say
00:33
uh
00:34
a guerrilla war against colombia and so
00:37
they’re allowing farc
00:38
to name one one of the guerrilla
00:40
insurgencies to
00:41
uh have safe haven in venezuelan
00:43
territory where they then go
00:45
cross-border and back into colombia to
00:47
do attacks and kill people and
00:49
rampage and those sorts of things so
00:51
they’re definitely on the bad guy list
00:53
that
00:53
and they don’t get really any any
00:54
intention very little has been
00:57
done there was the attempt uh to take
01:00
maduro out
01:01
and and put in wang do uh
01:04
at some point gweido being the
01:06
democratic uh
01:08
candidate he was recognized as the
01:10
legitimate uh ruler in
01:12
in um in venezuela but but maduro has
01:15
absolute control
01:16
and uh hasn’t been willing to step down
01:18
backed by russia backed by cuba
01:20
a lot of troops in there supporting him
01:22
to make sure that he can’t be just
01:23
overrun from inside venezuela by
01:27
venezuelan
01:28
troops who turn against him or whatever
01:29
so he’s got these foreigners there
01:31
making sure he stays in power
01:33
now one thing that has happened that was
01:36
a political effort to put one window in
01:38
it failed uh maduro was apparently
01:41
on his way out but russia sat down and
01:44
talked with him and said
01:45
you know slapped him and said sit back
01:46
in your chair coward
01:48
you’re staying and so he did and they
01:50
were able to put this down and he’s
01:52
remained in power
01:53
the change that has taken place that
01:55
we’ve seen recently is that the us navy
01:57
just conducted a pretty good exercise
01:59
off the coast of venezuela and of course
02:02
venezuela being you know
02:03
communist country now they always you
02:06
know claim that they have international
02:07
waters
02:08
you know 28 miles out or 30 miles out or
02:10
50 miles out or whatever they’re always
02:12
pulling games like that
02:13
what’s recognized i believe the
02:15
international limit is set at three
02:16
miles
02:17
that may have changed but that’s what it
02:19
used to be i believe but whatever it is
02:21
that’s what the u.s navy recognizes so
02:23
they’ll
02:24
they’ll have these exercises a few miles
02:26
off coast
02:27
and what is internationally recognized
02:29
to be international waters
02:31
the venezuelans of course claim it’s
02:33
their water so they take great umbrage
02:35
at this but this is
02:36
definitely tweaking the nose of the
02:38
communist regime
02:40
and venezuela so it is the first time
02:42
we’ve actually done something
02:44
to kind of directly stand up to him and
02:46
make no mistake u.s navy
02:48
if they decide to take out venezuela
02:50
it’s just gonna be a smoking rubble when
02:52
they’re finished
02:53
uh also what’s going on in that same
02:56
context and i don’t know
02:58
if this is kind of what provoked it or
03:00
not but
03:02
oddly uh venezuela which
03:05
ironically you know venezuela’s been a
03:07
huge producer of
03:09
gas and a big exporter of gas and and
03:12
the united states used to
03:14
import large amounts of gas from them
03:16
and they have a uh what is that gas
03:18
station called they anyway they have gas
03:19
stations in the united states even still
03:21
that is
03:22
from venezuelan uh gas but that has
03:25
dropped off so bad
03:27
because of they they they replaced all
03:30
of the actual
03:31
oil drilling experts with political
03:34
hacks
03:35
and so everybody who actually knows how
03:36
to do the job was fired every
03:39
difficult communist and so their
03:42
industry has just gone down the toilet
03:44
they don’t produce enough oil now for
03:46
their own country’s domestic use so
03:49
not not to mention not uh not exporting
03:52
anymore
03:53
and so unless i mean they may produce
03:55
some and export it to make their
03:57
currency and then just not have any for
03:58
their for their people to drive with
04:00
that’s a typical communist
04:01
solution to this problem because they
04:02
want the money so i wouldn’t be
04:04
surprised if that’s happening but they
04:05
certainly don’t have enough for
04:07
domestic consumption and export now what
04:10
has happened on top of that
04:11
is iran always the troublemaker and you
04:14
know in solidarity with the communists
04:16
and they’ve had a very long
04:18
uh relationship with venezuela now
04:21
and what they’ve done is they’re
04:23
delivering fuel
04:25
to venezuela from iran and they’re doing
04:28
that
04:28
uh in in spite of u.s sanctions because
04:32
they don’t
04:33
care about the u.s sanctions so they
04:35
haven’t been stopped or fired upon or
04:37
any of that sort of stuff
04:38
whether it will cycle up to that level
04:40
yeah i don’t know i kind of doubt it
04:42
venezuela is
04:43
such a low priority target for the
04:45
united states of america
04:46
um i don’t think much beyond what we’ve
04:49
seen right now will happen
04:50
however i view this as a major positive
04:53
because like i said other than sort of a
04:56
political movement
04:57
to to have maduro abdicate and
05:00
wong guido sworn in other than that
05:03
uh pretty much nothing has happened
05:05
nobody seems to be working on it it’s
05:06
not a priority for
05:07
any part of the united states for the
05:09
have the navy step in and do this
05:11
and then start to uh actually
05:15
uh you know note that that iran and
05:17
countries like that are acting against
05:19
u.s sanctions
05:20
is a is a big step forward so if
05:23
anything’s going to happen this is the
05:24
first step in seeing it go forward
05:28
that is interesting so yes they have had
05:31
several shipments of oil from iran
05:35
which is supposed to be illegal yes
05:38
and that’s certainly it’s certainly
05:40
interesting you know justin trudeau’s
05:42
father pierre trudeau did the exact same
05:44
thing
05:45
in canada with petro canada and at that
05:48
time we had the world’s only
05:50
money losing oil company so
05:54
yes it is a classic call me move thank
05:56
you very much brad
06:11
[Music]
06:16
you
