Brad Johnson we are we are at an
00:03
interesting intersection historically I
00:05
think many people are viewing last
00:08
night’s what was probably a retaliatory
00:11
attack on some key Iranian military
00:14
figures I think his blood I’ll cut but
00:17
you’ll straighten me out on that
00:18
after a multi-day siege of yet another
00:20
US Embassy and this would be at least
00:23
the second one by the Iranian if not the
00:25
third depends on what really happened in
00:27
Benghazi doesn’t it so I mean that
00:31
basically there’s two views that are I
00:33
see coming out of the United States
00:35
there is a certain amount of justifiable
00:40
triumphalism by people who are sick of
00:42
seeing the Americans kicked around in
00:43
the international system like Benghazi
00:46
and like the the the Iranian embassy
00:48
under Carter and then there’s people
00:50
like taka Carlson that are dry lipped
00:53
with fear thinking that you know they’ve
00:56
let the dragon out of the cage or
00:58
something maybe you could give us some
01:00
analysis on what actually took place and
01:02
what we might expect to see so we all
01:03
start buying from bulletproof everyone
01:06
oh well yeah you can never have too much
01:09
ammunition I’ll say that but now of
01:11
course it was it was major general
01:13
Soleimani he’s the guy that’s headed the
01:15
Iranian military for 20 years all the
01:17
spying and special operations and basic
01:20
military things have been handled by him
01:22
for that period of time so lots and lots
01:24
and lots of blood on this man’s hands so
01:26
you know if you he paid the price he
01:29
knew what he was the business he was in
01:30
and so I probably in the scheme of
01:33
things he was never going to be a guy
01:34
that was going to retire and live in the
01:36
house on the hill anyway so this is
01:38
probably as good an ending for a guy
01:39
like that is he could have hoped for so
01:42
you know I wouldn’t shed any tears over
01:44
this guy the world is certainly a safer
01:46
better place with him dead and going now
01:50
in the in the in the kind of in the
01:52
scheme of things yeah it’s a little
01:53
setback but I what I find particularly
01:56
interesting about all of this is the
01:58
background and something that absolutely
02:00
no one is talking about in mainstream
02:02
media and how do we get there okay well
02:04
yes it was another invasion of the
02:06
embassy the Green Zone
02:08
that’s all US personnel it’s a huge
02:11
thing I mean you’re
02:12
when you come in the gate you’re you
02:14
know a mile from where the Embassy is so
02:16
for them to get over the fence if you
02:19
will and March in there and start
02:21
attacking the embassy I mean that took
02:22
him a long time it wasn’t just you know
02:24
run of fifty yards here at the Embassy
02:26
sort of things so they were allowed to
02:28
go in this is the Iraqi government
02:31
controlled by the Iranians they did it
02:33
because they were striking back trying
02:35
to keep Donald Trump in place and as a
02:38
result Donald Trump the guy who ordered
02:40
this and handled the attack how was this
02:42
guy that was blown up so that was the
02:45
retail retaliation for the invasion of
02:47
the Green Zone and so basically if
02:49
you’re pro or in your against it which
02:51
it’s interesting than many of the
02:53
Democrats here in the United States seem
02:55
to be pro Iran and against this they’re
02:57
stinging this argument by Tucker Carlson
02:59
and many many others is I find it to be
03:03
fairly unrealistic and reactionary if
03:06
you will to the situation and and I
03:09
would ask this question do you honestly
03:10
think that if we had not done this that
03:13
Iran was going to stop attacking and
03:15
killing Americans you know just not
03:17
going to happen there supporting
03:19
terrorism have always supported
03:20
terrorism and they’re going to continue
03:21
to support terrorism and they’re going
03:23
to continue to fund and finance and
03:25
train and all of these things these
03:28
programs where we have people running
03:29
around the street with an axe and
03:31
chopping people up and the bombs going
03:33
off and IEDs and the training and all
03:35
those things are going to continue no
03:37
matter what the United States does
03:38
Iran’s position on the United States
03:41
will remain the same as long as they’re
03:43
there period now what they do respect as
03:48
force and that’s the only thing they’re
03:50
gonna respect out of the United States
03:52
so the way that they’re going to balance
03:53
this out is they’re going to look at it
03:55
and say if the retaliation retaliation
03:57
of the United States is so great that it
03:59
costs us more than we gain by doing
04:01
these programs that’s the only analysis
04:04
that they’re going to do that does us
04:05
any good so was that football move
04:07
further down the field by this
04:09
administration’s action by taking this
04:11
guy out and absolutely it was so these
04:14
people who are saying anywhere in the
04:17
process that that this is you know let
04:19
loose the dragon and open the you know
04:22
Pandora’s Box all that stuff that
04:25
his box has been open for a long time
04:27
that dragon has been out there for a
04:28
long time and you can look back at the
04:30
602 American lives that can be tallied
04:33
just to this guy that was bombed by the
04:35
programs that he was handling where
04:37
Americans were killed now there’s
04:39
absolutely zero chance if that was going
04:41
to stop zero if we had not done this I
04:44
mean that’s just a goof ball analysis
04:47
based on I don’t know unrealistic fears
04:50
but now one of the things that gets
04:52
stepping back is you know I like to do
04:54
often is step back and how did we kind
04:55
of end up at this place
04:56
where these guys were Iraqi government
04:59
condone these guys going over the fence
05:01
and going a mile to get to the embassy
05:04
and burning it down to the ground and
05:06
all of that and this is this this
05:08
actually goes back to some very specific
05:10
things that were going on earlier here
05:12
in the United States and you can take it
05:14
back to that disagreement that took
05:16
place between john bolton who was then
05:19
the national security adviser for the
05:20
president of united states the head of
05:22
NSC and essentially he was ousted
05:25
because of this long-standing argument
05:27
that he had with Mike Pompeo Secretary
05:30
of State and you can see clearly the
05:31
joint chief of staff the military so
05:33
essentially you had the military and
05:35
Pompeyo on the one hand saying that john
05:37
bolton was too extreme in his position
05:40
because what he had argued for all along
05:42
was the replacement of the regime in
05:46
iran stating that all you know you’ve
05:48
got to go to the root of the problem
05:50
this is the basic argument he made that
05:52
the cause of all of these things these
05:54
terrorist attacks and the surrogacy
05:56
surrogate armies out there bombing and
05:59
killing and all of that that a lot of
06:01
that was was cut was in effect taking
06:04
place because Iran’s regime existed so
06:07
therefore rather than symptomatic
06:10
treatment which I think you can argue
06:11
this bombing of sulemani was a
06:13
symptomatic treatment versus treating
06:16
the actual problem the cause of the
06:17
problem so John bolt lost that political
06:20
battle he was out and these guys that
06:22
have won that argument including State
06:26
Department absolutely with Mike Pompeo
06:28
and the military have won that argument
06:30
and and taken the day if you will with
06:35
unfortunately I don’t think there’s any
06:37
analysis taking place
06:38
the administration where they’re looking
06:40
at it going oops you know maybe we
06:41
should listen to John Bolton and taking
06:43
a more active role doing there’s a lot
06:45
of things you could do to destabilize
06:47
the regime without war and you know
06:50
being at the CIA that’s what the CIA has
06:53
always done traditionally not that the
06:55
CIA in today’s world was is capable of
06:57
doing this to the extent and in a way
06:59
that they would need to but those things
07:00
could be revisited and people brought
07:02
back that still retain that expertise
07:04
and things could be done now this is
07:07
this is kind of an air that you’ll see
07:09
with state department going way back
07:11
they’ve always done that in in Iraq
07:13
especially I think this where we’re at
07:16
can be laid at the doorstep of the State
07:18
Department and preed Mike Pompeo as well
07:20
the now Secretary of State but just
07:23
State Department and Mike Pompeo has
07:25
bought into this and that is what we saw
07:28
happen from the very beginning once the
07:29
Iraqi invasion took place and so long
07:34
Hussein was out we helped establish a
07:36
government and what had happened then
07:39
you saw the then ambassador in Iraq the
07:42
US ambassador decide to get rid of all
07:45
the bath party people so he disbanded it
07:47
and out of that is where a lot of this
07:49
terrorism came from because they had to
07:51
go someplace we saw historically out of
07:54
World War two the US military who argued
07:57
against the US ambassador in this
07:59
instance when when we took over Iraq
08:02
they they were using the model out of
08:04
world war two war we kept all the
08:06
low-level Nazi Party members who you
08:08
know the sergeant level of the guys who
08:10
kept the waterworks going and the
08:12
electricity going and the phone service
08:13
going those level low-level party
08:15
members were kept in order to keep
08:17
everything up and running that was not
08:20
done in Iraq that is the root of the
08:22
problem from there then you saw the
08:25
State Department do what they always do
08:27
this is this is the way they do business
08:28
is that yes you get the you get the
08:31
government up and running and then you
08:32
step back and you kind of go away and
08:35
let them do whatever they’re gonna do
08:37
and it’s then the responsibilities upon
08:39
them and you only take action if they do
08:41
something egregious and bah-bah-bah well
08:43
that’s the opposite of the way this
08:45
needs to go you can have yeah people
08:47
elect but well then you need to make
08:48
sure that those are the right
08:49
people that are gonna keep a peaceful
08:51
system up and running everybody’s better
08:53
off under that and what we did under
08:56
State Department auspices is step
08:58
completely out of the process now nobody
09:00
else in the world is that stupid except
09:02
for us and I would say really not us
09:05
mainly State Department and and
09:06
liberalism that controls the State
09:08
Department and that’s what they view is
09:10
moral activity is to take your hands off
09:13
and let them run it well since I said
09:15
nobody else does it that way this is
09:18
created essentially a void and in that
09:20
void within the Iraqi government Iran
09:23
stepped in and they run the show there
09:24
today because they use every trick every
09:27
bribe everything that they could do to
09:29
take over the Iranian government while
09:31
State Department said well we need to
09:33
let them do what they’re going to do
09:34
they’re a sovereign country we need to
09:36
allow it all of those that behavior that
09:39
logic that that has brought us to what
09:42
we’re at today and that is why the Iraqi
09:45
government was felt perfectly free to
09:47
allow these guys to go over the wall and
09:49
go in and attack the US Embassy and burn
09:51
it to the ground now fortunately and I
09:53
don’t think any of the Americans were
09:55
killed out of that they went to the safe
09:57
places that were all on hand and ready
09:59
for such thing so they were prepared in
10:01
that sense for the event but that’s
10:04
what’s led us to this now there’s no
10:06
self-introspection taking place no
10:08
examination of what led us to this point
10:09
going on at the administration and
10:12
that’s that’s that is a sin what should
10:14
be happening is they need to sit back
10:15
and look and say what brought us to this
10:18
how did this happen and I’ve just laid
10:21
out how all this unfolded and how we did
10:23
where we’re at and they need to go back
10:25
and fix the State Department to fix
10:27
those things that led us to this problem
10:28
and that should be creating some issues
10:31
between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
10:33
and the President of the United States
10:34
but it has not it clearly has not you
10:37
can see that the military State
10:39
Department and the administration are
10:41
joined at the hip on this issue which
10:44
it’s not that bombing
10:47
sulemani within where the drone attack
10:49
is wrong I believe that’s a fine
10:51
decision it’s it’s there’s many ways you
10:53
could respond this is one and it’s a
10:54
productive way that guy had blood on his
10:56
hands so he’s guilty but you know when
10:58
he pays the price but you know there’s
11:00
nothing there’s no larger analysis
11:02
of the state deep place it’s not being
11:04
discussed anywhere in the press anywhere
11:06
at all and it’s it’s a cryin shame that
11:08
that adult look at all this whole thing
11:10
by any player nobody on the hill nobody
11:13
in the news nobody is laying this out
11:15
the way it really is and looking and
11:17
analyzing how we ended up in this mess
11:21
okay so I mean that makes a great deal
11:24
of sense and you know I definitely I’m
11:26
liking what I’m hearing but I gotta ask
11:27
from the point of view of a guy who just
11:30
knows what he knows from reading lots of
11:31
news there appears to be two sort of
11:35
distinct views of Iran which are
11:38
different from each other and one would
11:40
be the idea that Iran is always doing
11:42
everything that it can do so when it’s
11:44
boasting about what it’s going to do
11:46
it’s meaningless because if they could
11:49
do that they already would be that’s
11:51
definitely one solid feeling I get from
11:54
years and years of watching this regime
11:56
but then the second thing is a number of
11:59
articles that I’ve read over the years
12:01
mostly actually I think 2018-2019 and
12:04
they usually show up like on page 18
12:06
where it says that Oh
12:08
Hezbollah cell or an Iranian government
12:11
terrorist cell was found in London with
12:14
three metric tons of high explosives and
12:17
that’s been that’s happened in enough
12:19
cities that it would be reasonable to
12:23
have confidence that in many major
12:25
cities there are Iranian terror cells
12:27
waiting to be lit up that are sitting on
12:30
piles of high-energy chemistry so like I
12:35
guess the question a lot of people might
12:36
be asking themselves is the is the event
12:39
that took place where it’s likely that
12:41
an Israeli team at American request took
12:45
out a these top Iranian military guys
12:49
would that be like if scenario two is
12:52
correct does that mean we’re gonna
12:54
suddenly see these cells activated and
12:56
if so would American intelligence be
12:58
able to like short-circuit preemptively
13:01
act against these things
13:02
yeah good good point and yeah there
13:06
there is there has been some reporting
13:08
in the media that Israeli intelligence
13:10
was involved in this and
13:12
and that’s certainly plausible that they
13:15
were involved in and providing the
13:17
targeting information in Iraq however
13:19
I’m not I don’t know it may be true it
13:22
may not be I don’t know that it would
13:23
necessarily be needed you know the the
13:26
Americans have a presence in Iraq and
13:28
would have possibly been capable of
13:31
doing this completely on their own so it
13:34
could be it could be true that that was
13:36
part of how it was done and I don’t
13:38
think it matters all that much
13:39
there’s certainly cooperation taking
13:41
place between Israel the United States
13:42
all the time this may be one it may not
13:44
be but yes I would answer to your your
13:49
your basic question with that yes now
13:52
are the rains who have long been placing
13:55
people in forward position to do attacks
13:58
and they’re bringing people and having
14:01
them wait to you know to try and do
14:03
something and put together larger
14:04
attacks or smaller attacks or these you
14:07
know individuals that they convince to
14:09
go out and with an axe or a machete and
14:11
chop up people and attack them and
14:12
certainly we’ve seen a lot of this play
14:14
out in New York and this is this is all
14:16
tied together this stuff that’s
14:18
happening in New York attack after
14:19
attack after attack against Jews isn’t
14:22
just absolutely no coincidence you know
14:25
who hates Jews more than anybody in the
14:27
world and it’s the Muslim extremists
14:28
that’s a fact of life and this is
14:31
playing out because of that and these
14:33
are people that they’ve convinced for
14:35
one reason or another some marginally
14:37
mentally marginal individual that
14:38
they’re able to manipulate to go do
14:40
these things they take advantage of
14:42
every chance they have to do that plus
14:45
as you’ve noted in London weapon caches
14:48
explosive caches all of these things
14:50
have been forward positioned they exist
14:52
here in the United States there are
14:53
terrorism cases FBI terrorism cases in
14:56
all 50 states of the United States we’ve
14:58
seen a lot of this activity particularly
15:00
in England but in the rest of Europe as
15:02
well that one of the things we tend to
15:04
forget is we tend to be well Canadians
15:07
look at this from the Canadian
15:08
perspective Americans look at it from
15:10
the American perspective Europeans look
15:12
at it from the European perspective and
15:14
so we have our little slice of the pie
15:16
we look at it that way that is not how
15:18
Iran music Iran views it as a worldwide
15:20
program attacking back wherever they can
15:23
so when they have an opportunity to
15:25
infiltrate
15:25
into a place they do every program that
15:28
they can take advantage of they take
15:29
advantage of it every organization
15:31
that’s Pro Iran here in the United
15:34
States where they can hook up get
15:36
funding do all the things they do they
15:37
take advantage of it all they’re looking
15:39
for is an opportunity to move somebody
15:41
into place which they may or may not use
15:43
right away but guaranteed they’re going
15:45
to activate something somewhere and try
15:48
to retaliate and they’ve essentially
15:50
said that flat-out that that’s their
15:52
intention and that they’re gonna pick
15:55
the appropriate time in place to act and
15:57
that takes a while to get these things
15:59
up and running if they’ve been put you
16:01
know just held in position without
16:05
actively you know being in that attack
16:09
phase where they’re targeting an
16:11
individual or a place for attack you
16:14
know it takes a while to stand that back
16:15
up and get them practiced and do some
16:16
dry runs and all that now are we are we
16:19
capable of you know rolling up some of
16:22
these operations absolutely
16:23
the FBI has great programs out there
16:25
they’ve do a lot of intelligence
16:26
gathering and the Europe less Canada’s
16:31
not quite as high a target so probably
16:34
would be the US or Europe because of the
16:37
ease of operating in Europe but in US as
16:40
well because of the high priority target
16:42
that it represents for these for the
16:44
Iranians so yeah you’re going to see
16:46
these sorts of things and they’ll be
16:47
taking credit for it and they’ll say
16:48
that it’s you know in retaliation and it
16:50
it will be so I would be very surprised
16:54
if within six months that we don’t see
16:56
some attacks of this nature that are
16:57
directly as a result but again I’d point
17:00
out those attacks were all set up
17:02
already anyway they were going to be
17:05
used at some point anyway all we’ve done
17:07
is provoke them to use them now versus
17:10
using them at some other time so you’re
17:12
not this attack doesn’t save us from
17:15
getting attacked
17:16
it just provokes more attacks now so
17:19
we’re better off you know trying to weed
17:22
through these guys and catch them and
17:23
all of that now rather than having to
17:26
sit out there be an unknown element and
17:27
they could continue to grow because they
17:30
can breathe once you’ve got a cell set
17:32
someplace you can make that cell grow
17:34
once you use it they’re dead and gone
17:36
they’re over so
17:38
it’s a net win for us but there was
17:41
never going to be a completely painless
17:43
way out of this that’s just it’s just
17:46
the nature of who the Iranians are and
17:48
it’s never going to be fixed until the
17:51
regime is gone that is the disease
17:53
that’s what’s causing these problems
17:54
until you treat that disease by getting
17:57
rid of the regime in Iran it will
18:00
continue their perspective is never
18:02
going to change they view this from the
18:04
you know the end of days perspective
18:07
that there has to be a confrontation
18:09
with the West and the West has to be
18:11
destroyed that’s not going to go away
18:13
that’s a basic tenet of their faith and
18:16
anyone listening who has faith you know
18:18
what what could I say to you that it’s
18:20
gonna make you just like throw away your
18:22
faith and you know go on to something
18:23
else and it just doesn’t work that way
18:26
and it’s the same with uranium’s that is
18:28
a basic tenet of their faith it’s going
18:30
to be there as long as they’re there now
18:31
it doesn’t mean that that’s how the
18:33
population of Iran views it which is
18:36
something we should have taken advantage
18:38
of long ago and have not there’s been a
18:40
couple of real opportunities to let the
18:42
Iranian people express their desire for
18:45
freedom and overthrow this regime and we
18:47
have not supported it which I that is a
18:49
as a sin against the world because of
18:52
the violence it’s caused and allowed to
18:54
continue so I would I would argue here
18:56
this is where people or john bolton
18:58
needs to be standing up publicly you can
19:00
go see i told you you should listen to
19:03
me and you haven’t but john bolton i
19:05
think is going to be a gentleman about
19:07
these things and keep his head down and
19:08
his mouth shut and not say too much so
19:10
I’ll speak for John in this instance and
19:12
say you know see you shouldn’t listen to
19:13
John Bolton on this
19:22
[Music]
19:33
you
