Americans for Intelligence Reform

Brad Johnson, President, and retired CIA Senior Officer and Chief of Staff. Insight into current events from an intelligence angle.

Will China and India go to war?

World domination tactics of Chinese pushes India to action high in the Himalayas. Information is sketchy, but India has won recent skirmishes. bad Johnson it is June 30 of 2020 and
00:03
you know every day in my newsfeed which
00:06
is supplied by all the great readers of
00:08
Vlad Tepes blog there is more and more
00:11
stuff coming in about the India China
00:14
border conflict more people are getting
00:16
killed as more artillery and more
00:19
weaponry being moved to that front
00:21
there’s lots of speculation as to you
00:24
know why this is happening but it
00:26
certainly looks like it’s intensifying
00:28
what are you thinking about then yes it
00:31
has gotten to the point where you have
00:34
there’s a valley called the Galvan
00:37
Valley is how it’s spelled I’m sure that
00:39
I’m pronouncing it wrong based on what
00:41
whatever is in I think it’s an Indian
00:44
Territory that would name so maybe it’s
00:47
the British pronunciation of that of
00:49
that region at any rate this this valley
00:51
is a Little River value that that that
00:55
separates it’s a the China from India
00:59
it’s a mountainous region now kind of in
01:01
the middle of nowhere sort of thing and
01:03
what the Chinese have done is they’ve
01:05
always claimed this area is theirs it’s
01:07
always been Indian Territory or for a
01:10
very long time it’s been Indian
01:11
Territory their last border war was in
01:14
1962 and I haven’t really looked back to
01:17
see you know what border changes took
01:19
place at that time but at least in and
01:21
certainly modern recent history that has
01:25
been an area controlled by India so the
01:27
Chinese just moved in and because it’s a
01:30
mountainous kind of desolate region with
01:32
not much there they were able to dig in
01:33
foxholes build some buildings and all
01:35
this stuff on what is in essence Indian
01:38
territory so the Indians came into the
01:41
area and apparently now some of this is
01:43
surmise on my part but apparently we’re
01:46
kind of friendly attacked by the Chinese
01:48
who you know and I don’t know what which
01:52
sort of forces were arrayed against the
01:54
other I mean none of that sort of
01:55
information is coming out but it ended
01:58
up being that the Chinese took a
01:59
shellacking got quite a few people
02:01
killed out of that attack and the
02:02
Indians far fewer
02:04
now it could be a thing of not comparing
02:08
fighter to fighter although I wouldn’t
02:10
be surprised if the Indian fighters can
02:12
hold their own against the Chinese could
02:14
have been a big equipment advantage
02:15
because the Indians now for a long time
02:17
I’ve been moving some very serious
02:19
equipment into their I mean helicopters
02:21
and armored vehicles and troops and all
02:24
those sorts of things they’re moving
02:25
into the region the Indians are taking
02:27
this very serious and they also clearly
02:31
if you check the domestic reporting
02:33
coming out of India they take this
02:35
threat very seriously China and I think
02:37
as most people are aware and as I
02:39
alluded to earlier
02:40
they’ve already been previous Wars the
02:41
last one in 1962 over the border issues
02:44
so as we all know history tends to
02:48
repeat itself so I wouldn’t be surprised
02:49
to see this really really be up as as
02:52
the government watchdogs are out there
02:54
taking a look around it at hot flash
02:58
points where something really flare up
03:00
quickly and easily this is gonna be one
03:01
that’s moving high up on everybody’s
03:03
list and this is something that you know
03:06
definitely the United States doesn’t
03:09
want to see and people talk about Russia
03:11
doesn’t want to see it and other
03:12
countries don’t want to see it which but
03:14
probably is true I don’t think a war
03:16
between India and China which I think
03:20
believe are the two most populous
03:22
countries in the world I don’t think a
03:23
war between those two countries does a
03:25
lot of good for much of anybody but now
03:28
what we’re seeing is again this is
03:29
something I’ve referred to often what
03:31
we’re seeing is a very heavy worldwide
03:34
aggression on the part of the Chinese
03:36
and this is one of those areas it is
03:38
certainly playing out in other areas of
03:40
the of the world where the Chinese are
03:42
trying to re-establish control or gain
03:44
control of areas that for whatever
03:46
reason they believe should be theirs and
03:48
these areas along the border with India
03:50
are 100% part of that overall effort on
03:55
the part of the Chinese and they’re
03:56
being extraordinarily aggressive which
03:58
this is one of the things I also try to
04:00
point out often the reason the Chinese
04:03
feel so safe to be so aggressive on the
04:07
world stage is because of the domestic
04:10
politics we’re seeing going on in the
04:11
United States right now and all the
04:13
conflict here in the United States
04:15
that’s taken place so it’s it’s it
04:17
kind of one of those cake
04:19
you know when the when the cat’s away
04:21
the mice will play and since the United
04:24
States who’s still the single great
04:26
world power is not in the game and not
04:29
watching this stuff beaten up by local
04:32
politics local meaning US politics that
04:35
that has given the Chinese a free hand
04:37
there are other bad players in the world
04:39
that are also equally acting up but the
04:41
Chinese are the big aggressors on the
04:43
world stage and this thing on the Indian
04:45
border is one of those areas that there
04:47
will be more shooting there’s going to
04:49
be more conflict there where soldiers
04:51
are going to be getting killed so far it
04:53
hasn’t flared out into civilian areas
04:55
but this is definitely going to be
04:58
there’s going to be more shooting
04:59
between the two militaries in that area
05:01
and how big Disick it is the question
05:03
the Indians are preparing for war
05:05
they’re also reaching out and have
05:07
established some treaties of different
05:10
types with other countries and are
05:12
trying to bolster their you know their
05:15
their case with other countries against
05:17
the Chinese aggression so that’s where
05:20
we find ourselves right now and this is
05:21
again one of those places I would put on
05:23
my my watch list to make sure that you
05:25
keep an eye on what’s going on in that
05:26
area and hopefully you know won’t come
05:29
to a serious well I know that apparently
05:34
the Three Gorges Dam is right on the
05:36
edge of bursting and China could find
05:39
itself with internal catastrophes and
05:41
you you know I wouldn’t be that
05:44
surprised if a war a border war with
05:47
India would be some way to focus the
05:49
attention off the domestic populations
05:52
complete lack of faith in the Chinese
05:54
government’s divine right to rule
05:58
yes and that certainly is it’s a
06:00
communist tactic worldwide but a you
06:04
know certainly the it’s a methodology
06:07
that they use they always need some sort
06:08
of external enemy to blame for the
06:11
drought or whatever and I’m serious you
06:13
know the old Soviet Union they would
06:14
have droughts and they blame the CIA or
06:17
blame the United States or whatever it
06:19
was if there was too much premarital sex
06:21
it was the fault of the CIA or or
06:24
somebody so it’s it’s just it’s the
06:26
perennial tactic of those of Communists
06:29
and
06:30
certainly that the Chinese would be
06:31
happy to have that happen if the dam
06:33
were to break which I understand
06:34
correctly is as you do said is that that
06:38
that it’s close to breaking and they’re
06:41
not really bringing in the what they
06:43
need to fix all of the problems there so
06:45
if that were to burst enough thousands
06:48
of Chinese were to get killed in a
06:49
mudslide that took place over you know
06:51
going down these different gorges and
06:53
things war with India would be the
06:56
perfect way to cover to cover up that
06:57
problem and I think they could they
07:00
would hope to keep any conflict of that
07:02
sort within control so I mean that’s
07:05
kind of my my hope on it but like I said
07:07
the Chinese are saying oh not that big a
07:10
deal this is just some tiny stuff that
07:12
needs to be fixed but the Indians are
07:14
taking this very seriously so you know
07:16
if the Indians come and come in with
07:18
everything to just give the Chinese
07:19
shellacking and teach them a lesson to
07:21
not go in there again which has been
07:23
done to the Chinese a lot I mean
07:25
recent years the Vietnamese have kicked
07:27
their air in a few a time or two as well
07:29
so if that’s what happened the Chinese
07:31
would not be able to allow that on the
07:33
world stage today which means then they
07:35
would have to bring in a lot more forces
07:36
and then it just kind of keeps piling up
07:39
like that could get worse that’s that’s
07:40
my worry out of this I guess it’s time
07:43
to update that famous old Chinese curse
07:47
may the Chinese create interesting times
07:51
thank you very much
08:01
you
