so brad johnson it’s november the 16th
00:03
and a few days ago there was a piece of
00:05
amazing news
00:06
which has been staggeringly
00:08
underreported
00:10
and certainly not reported properly
00:13
because it was a great victory for
00:16
president trump who i believe
00:18
tasked the israelis to take out the
00:20
number two
00:22
al-qaeda guy in the world who was in
00:24
iran at the time presumably as a guest
00:26
of the iranians now my guess would be
00:28
my guess would be the reason they don’t
00:30
report it is because it would show that
00:32
president trump’s policies on iran were
00:34
correct
00:35
whereas the democrat policies of
00:37
supporting iran were
00:39
are a catastrophe and that it makes
00:41
trump look good
00:42
which he typically is on all matters of
00:46
national security
00:47
so you know what can you tell us about
00:49
this particular
00:50
triumph and what it means please
00:54
you’ve laid it out very nicely took from
00:56
the groundwork for this and that’s
00:58
precisely right uh this is a uh
01:01
now i can say i wasn’t involved in this
01:04
operation and so
01:05
don’t know the people that were involved
01:06
in the operation so that lets me be safe
01:09
to comment on it since i don’t know for
01:10
a fact
01:11
but just based on experience i you know
01:14
i can tell you more or less what
01:15
happened and
01:16
certainly this would be something very
01:17
likely based on cia
01:19
information where all masri was located
01:22
and i don’t think where he
01:24
his being in iran was particularly a
01:26
secret
01:27
it was one of those things that uh was
01:29
where he
01:30
he needed to be located versus a
01:32
specific location versus
01:34
uh you know knowing what country he was
01:37
in
01:38
so uh al-masri was the number two in al
01:40
qaeda after osama bin laden
01:43
was killed uh dr ayman al-zawahiri
01:47
who was long the number two and also the
01:50
operational head he was the one that
01:52
ran the show and osama bin laden was
01:54
more of the finance and figurehead
01:56
uh so dr eyman then was the one that
01:59
moved up to number one
02:01
and behind him eventually backfilled
02:03
this almasri he was the number two
02:05
kind of as a setting i mean just so
02:08
people understand these
02:10
these people are all interrelated and uh
02:13
al masri’s
02:14
wife at least one of them was osama bin
02:17
laden’s daughter
02:19
so he was again you know related and
02:22
family member and probably that would be
02:24
one of the reasons why he would have
02:25
been moved up to
02:27
uh serve as the second man and he would
02:29
have likely been handling
02:31
uh most of the sort of day-to-day
02:33
operations you know
02:35
move this money here attack over there
02:38
establish
02:39
these relationships with these
02:40
terrorists give them these guns to go do
02:41
that attack
02:42
those sorts of day-to-day operations
02:45
would have been his role
02:46
his being killed is quite significant
02:48
and very helpful now
02:50
not saying it’s a devastating blow there
02:53
are others
02:54
in that leadership pipeline that will be
02:56
able to step up so
02:58
uh he is somebody that’s going to be
02:59
replaced but each time
03:02
you take these people out like we’ve
03:04
been doing with al qaeda
03:05
it gets harder and harder and harder to
03:07
replace them now the operation itself
03:09
was
03:10
as i said probably a joint particularly
03:12
the intelligence part
03:14
coming from the united states when it
03:15
was shared with israel and israel was in
03:18
a position
03:18
had a team that could effectively
03:20
operate in iran
03:22
uh which by the way an interesting
03:23
little tidbit of this you know the
03:25
al-qaeda
03:26
and and iranians are on opposite sides
03:30
of the
03:31
sunni shia split so they’re generally
03:34
thought not to be able to cooperate but
03:36
this isn’t
03:36
an example i often talk about this they
03:38
hate each other and kill each other but
03:40
they also cooperate
03:41
and this is one of those areas of
03:43
cooperation and where we see iran
03:45
definitely supporting worldwide
03:47
terrorism it’s more important for
03:48
iranians
03:50
to support worldwide terrorism than it
03:52
is to worry about a divide within the
03:54
muslim world
03:55
so uh and this is this is proof of it
03:59
so the operation then would have been
04:02
laid out something like that and for the
04:05
actual
04:05
shooting it was two guys on a motorcycle
04:07
one in the back the shooter and the
04:09
driver and all monster he was in his
04:11
vehicle and in order to pull that off
04:13
that means they they would have had to
04:15
had
04:15
uh some level of surveillance so they
04:18
knew where
04:19
el mosri lived or worked or some place
04:22
that he was on on a routine basis had
04:24
the
04:24
motorcycle team waiting driving around
04:26
or or someplace sitting out of sight
04:29
and had a team then uh call almasri out
04:33
of this location that they were
04:34
surveilling
04:35
he pulls out the car the motorcycle
04:36
comes up finds them there may have been
04:38
another vehicle or two involved probably
04:40
motorcycles
04:42
uh just because in that traffic in that
04:44
area motorcycles are easy to use
04:46
and used to assassinate people all over
04:48
the world all the time this is a
04:50
kind of standard procedure for this type
04:52
of operation
04:53
so that was how it was they
04:57
pulled up next to the vehicle and the
04:59
shooter in the back
05:01
killed all monsters and that that was
05:02
how the operation was done and then
05:04
everybody would have
05:04
uh had plans to flee the country so the
05:06
team israeli team would have left
05:08
clearly successfully got out or they
05:10
would have been
05:10
beheaded marched around town by now so
05:13
they had everything
05:14
laid on to either travel legally under
05:18
some means or uh or exfiltrated out of
05:21
the country something along those lines
05:22
so
05:23
a very successful operation big big
05:25
victory for
05:27
uh president trump and i agree with you
05:28
completely that that’s the reason
05:30
it has been so badly uh underreported
05:32
but nevertheless
05:33
a serious blow to al-qaeda who is still
05:36
a dangerous organization and still has
05:38
resources
05:39
and capabilities so a good day for the
05:41
good guys
05:43
and now al masri i think is arabic for
05:46
the egyptian so i think we can guess
05:47
where he’s from
05:48
but yes he is egyptian that’s true as is
05:51
i’m an al-zawahiri
05:53
okay interesting and uh i i think i read
05:56
somewhere that he was the guy that
05:58
that planned and masterminded as it were
06:01
the attacks on the two african us
06:03
embassies
06:04
that’s right he’s that guy and pot was
06:07
he also involved in the uss cole
06:09
or the u.s call uh
06:12
you know that sounds familiar too that
06:14
one i’m not so sure of but that
06:16
that could be as well i’m not positive
06:18
i’m sorry it was around the same time so
06:20
i wouldn’t surprise yes but
06:22
but uh certainly the fact that he’s the
06:24
guy that that
06:25
that planted detonated explosives in two
06:28
u.s embassies in africa
06:30
i think that’s it’s this has been a long
06:32
long long overdue so it’s terrific to
06:34
hear that they got them
06:36
thank you very much for that brett thank
06:41
[Music]
06:46
you
06:50
